Report: Bengals have no intention of trading No. 1 pick

Joe Burrow Bengals

A report from NFL insider Jay Glazer earlier in the weekend indicated that it would take a “truly ridiculous” offer for the Cincinnati Bengals to consider trading the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

This makes sense in that LSU’s Joe Burrow is considered the consensus first pick. Cincinnati needs a quarterback. The reigning Heisman winner is a perfect fit.

Now comes this report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter noting that the Bengals have no intention of trading said pick.

“But any speculation involving Carolina, Miami or any other quarterback-interested team should be quickly dispelled, because the Bengals have no intention of trading away the No. 1 draft pick,” Schefter reported.

Someone like Ohio State defensive end Chase Young would certainly be attractive for Cincinnati. But the team would be foolish to pass up on a generational talent at the game’s most-important position.

We know that the Miami Dolphins have positioned themselves to find a franchise signal caller by trading off veteran assets for draft capital. However, they will now likely turn to No. 2 option Tua Tagovailoa.

As for the Bengals, these dualing reports seem to indicate that Burrow will be a member of the team once April comes calling.
