Just over two months after being hired in that role, Carlos Beltran is no longer the New York Mets manager.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Beltran is stepping down from that role after being implicated in the entire Houston Astros sign-stealing controversy.
This is not necessarily surprising news in that it would have been hard for Beltran to keep his job. If he didn’t step down, there’s a strong chance the Mets would have fired the former All-Star outfielder.
All of this comes after Astros manager A.J. Hinch and Alex Cora were fired due to their roles in separate sign-stealing scandals over the past few seasons.
Needless to say, Beltran’s decision came with a mixed bag of reactions from the MLB world.
