LSU says cash Odell Beckham Jr. handed out to players was fake

Odell Beckham Jr. cash LSU

A video went viral after the LSU Tigers defeated Clemson in the National Championship Game Monday night.

It included former LSU wide receiver and current Cleveland Browns star Odell Beckham Jr. handing out cash to current Tigers players on the field in New Orleans.

Needless to say, this incident will end up being on the radar of the NCAA. In responding to the video, an unnamed LSU athletic official told The Advocate that the cash was fake.

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron also told reporters one day after his team earned the national championship that he had not heard anything about OBJ handing out cash to his players.

That’s unlikely to put an end to any potential inquiry from the NCAA. After all, we know how the restrictive governing body has acted in the past.

Even then, this makes a lot more sense than Beckham Jr. legitimately handing out real cash to current college football players right there on live television.
