Joe Burrow on if LSU could beat the Bengals: ‘No comment’

Joe Burrow Bengals

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is coming off an historic senior season that saw him throw for a record 60 touchdowns and combine for another record of 65 total touchdowns from the quarterback position.

Burrow’s amateur career culminated in an absolutely absurd performance Monday night, leading his Tigers to the national championship over Clemson.

The consensus No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is likely heading to the downtrodden Cincinnati Bengals.

In comparing his soon-to-be new team to the college squad he suited up for, Burrow would not comment on whether LSU would beat the Bengals.

That’s all sorts of sad right there. We’ve seen bad NFL teams compared to the likes of Alabama in the past. For the most part, it’s absurd to believe that a college team can beat any professional team.

But there’s an argument that can be made here. LSU averaged nearly 50 points per game during a 15-0 2019 campaign. They did so primarily going up against elite SEC competition.

We’re talking about a team that likely boasted as many as two dozen future NFL players.

As for the Bengals, they were outscored by an average of nine points per game during a two-win 2019 season.

Let the debate begin.
