Browns interviewing Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy for team’s HC vacancy on Friday

The Cleveland Browns are set to continue their head coaching search on Friday, interviewing Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy for Cleveland’s head coaching vacancy.

Bieniemy has served as Andy Reid’s offensive coordinator in Kansas City since 2018 and become one of the most coveted coaching candidates for the past two offseasons.

The veteran coordinator has spent his entire coaching career on the offensive side of the ball. He worked as a running backs coach in college (2001-’05) before moving to the NFL and taking over the same position with the Minnesota Vikings in 2006.

Bieniemy returned to college in 2011 as Colorado’s offensive coordinator and spent two seasons there before joining Andy Reid’s staff in 2013. After serving as running backs coach for four seasons, he took over as offensive coordinator in 2018.

Kansas City’s offense has been among the best in the NFL since Bieniemy took over. The Chiefs ranked first in points and total yards in 2018 and finished top-five in scoring this season.

Backed by a strong endorsement from Reid, Bieniemy could be the perfect coach to fix Cleveland’s talent offense and help address the team’s lack of discipline and cohesion in recent seasons.
