Report: Dolphins, DeVante Parker ‘on verge’ of contract extension worth over $40 million

Miami Dolphins receiver DeVante Parker has finally played up to his potential this year, and now he’s on the verge of signing a contract extension.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Dolphins and Parker are “on the verge of a contract extension through 2023.”

Shortly after Fowler’s report, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network noted the deal is worth over $40 million, with a “lot of guaranteed money.”

Parker has appeared in all 13 games for the Dolphins this season, earning 11 starts. He’s flourished with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center, catching 55 passes for 882 yards and six touchdowns — a career high — while showing exceptional ball skills on difficult throws deep down the field (like this).

The former 14th overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Louisville, Parker is starting to look like a star. And if the Dolphins can land a quarterback in the draft who’s capable of elevating an offense, he should continue to take off in the years to come.
