The Arizona Cardinals have surprisingly released veteran pass rusher Terrell Suggs, who signed a two-year contract with the team in free agency this past spring.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the surprising news on Twitter, noting Suggs will now go on waivers but that it’s “uncertain whether the seven-time Pro Bowl LOB will want to continue playing.”

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media provided a financial perspective of what this move means.

Suggs appeared in 10 games for the Cardinals this season, tallying 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.

A future Hall of Fame defender, Suggs has tallied 138 sacks in his career, which was spent mostly as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. If he does want to continue playing, Suggs could be a valuable addition to a contender this postseason.
