Packers shockingly release CB Tony Brown

Packers release Tony Brown

In a move that no one saw coming, the NFC North champion Green Bay Packers have released second-year cornerback Tony Brown.

A product of Alabama, Brown was a stud player in college and would have likely been an early-round pick if it weren’t for some off-field issues with the Crimson Tide.

The defensive back ultimately went undrafted and latched on with the Packers last season. He started three games, recording 34 tackles, five passes defended and two forced fumbles as a rookie.

Most recently, Brown has missed the past four games with a foot injury.

Even then, this is a surprising move with the playoffs slated to start here soon. It would not be a shock if another contending team picked Brown up off waivers. He’s still only 24 years old and boasts a tremendous amount of upside.
