Jason Garrett: Dak Prescott (shoulder) not expected to throw ‘much, if at all’ on Friday

Dak Prescott coin toss

As Sunday’s pivotal game against the Philadelphia Eagles draws closer, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott’s availability for Sunday’s game is increasingly in doubt.

While Prescott and owner Jerry Jones insisted on Thursday that the star quarterback will play in Week 16, head coach Jason Garrett told reporters on Friday that Prescott might not throw in the team’s final practice for the week.

The Cowboys are treating their franchise quarterback’s shoulder injury with caution. While he doesn’t necessarily need to throw this week to play in Week 16 against the Eagles, it’s alarming that the team is preventing him from doing it in a light practice.

Even if Prescott is cleared to play on Sunday, the latest news adds even greater doubt surrounding his ability to play at his usual level through the pain. Given both teams are fighting for their playoff lives on Sunday, anything less than Prescott at 100 percent is a significant blow for this offense.
