Chiefs might have to forfeit game against the Patriots

Chiefs forfeit

The Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots are set to do battle at Gillette Stadium Sunday afternoon in one of the best games on the NFL schedule.

Or so we thought.

Kansas City sent its equipment to New Jersey instead of Foxboro for Sunday’s game. This means that the Chiefs would have to forfeit the game if the equipment does not arrive in time.

As Adam Schefter noted, equipment for 35 players landed in Newark instead of New England.

That’s just all sorts of crazy right there. In the history of the NFL, there has been no forfeits. This would obviously represent a first.

The hope here is that Kansas City gets its equipment to Gillette Stadium in time.
