Pelicans star Brandon Ingram sidelined with knee injury

This is pretty much the last thing the struggling New Orleans Pelicans needed heading into Monday night’s game against the Houston Rockets.

Star forward Brandon Ingram was a late scratch for the game with a knee injury. Multiple reports from New Orleans note that Ingram pulled up lame during pre-game warmups.

This is concerning on many levels. Prior to being acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Anthony Davis blockbuster this past summer, Ingram missed substantial time with both a sprained ankle and an arm injury during the 2018-19 campaign.

Ingram, 22, has been one of a few bright spots for the 2-7 Pelicans thus far this season. The former No. 2 overall pick is averaging 25.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists on 47% shooting from the field.

Hopefully the extent of the injury is nothing more than soreness. We’ll have updates when they become available.
