Bears’ Mitchell Trubisky suffered right hip pointer on Sunday

The Chicago Bears’ disastrous 2019 season took on even new meaning Sunday night in Los Angeles. Matt Nagy’s squad dropped an ugly game to the Rams by the score of 17-7.

It’s a game that saw third-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky struggle to do anything of substance on offense prior to leaving late in the fourth quarter with what the Bears initially described as a hip injury.

Speaking to the media one day after the loss, Nagy notes that Trubisky suffered a right hip pointer in the game.

There was some speculation during and after the game that Chicago benched the young signal caller. Prior to exiting, Trubisky put up just 190 passing yards on 43 attempts with one touchdown and one interception.

No matter the narrative surrounding this team, it makes no real sense for Chicago to bench Trubisky in favor or veteran Chase Daniel. It needs to see what the former first-round pick can do now that the Bears are pretty much out of the playoff race at 4-6 on the season.

Further struggles from Trubisky could force the team into adding a proven veteran starter during free agency. Remember, Chicago’s first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is now in the hands of the Oakland Raiders courtesy of the Khalil Mack blockbuster.

Trubisky, 25, is averaging 176 passing yards and has thrown nine touchdowns in as many starts this season.
