There are a lot of things Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto does on the baseball field that makes him a treat to watch. It turns out, one of those things is also his hilarious way of taking a pitch.

During the fifth inning in Game 1 of the NLCS, Soto took a fastball inside and graced the baseball world with the perfect reaction. He stared at St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas, then back at the umpire before doing a cup check.

The gesture caught the attention of baseball fans and even Mikolas. After Soto grounded out with the bases loaded to end the inning, Mikolas turned towards Soto and repeated the gesture.

In an atmosphere with plenty of pressure and intensity, it’s great to see players having a little fun. Perhaps this will become a trend in this series and we’ll see the gesture more in the games ahead.
