The New York Giants came into Thursday Night Football already feeling down with many of their offensive starters sidelined. That feeling got worse after an embarrassing blunder on a punt gifted the New England Patriots a touchdown.

After another failed drive by New York’s offense, its special teams unit took the field to try and flip the field. Instead, the punt was blocked by Giants’ linebacker Nate Stupar. The ball bounced around until New England Patriots linebacker Chase Winovich scooped it up and took it to the house for the game’s first score.

Many expected New York to be overmatched against the Patriots coming in. Yet even on a night when New England’s offense is struggling to put up points, the Giants found a way to gift points to the Patriots.
