The Los Angeles Angels might not be wasting any time looking to replace the recently-fired Brad Ausmus as their manager.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Joe Maddon will interview for the Angels’ job this week. He’s also seen as their top choice to take over on the bench.
As Rosenthal notes, Maddon spent more than three decades in the Angels’ organization. That included stints as an interim manager in 1996 and 1999.
It was just a week ago on Sunday that the Maddon and the Cubs mutually decided to part ways with one another.
That came after he led the organization to a 471-339 record in five seasons, including bringing the Cubs that elusive World Series title in 2016.
Los Angeles is looking to find the right mix after missing the playoffs each of the past five seasons. Maddon is the logical solution there.
