The Los Angeles Rams have traded veteran cornerback Aqib Talib and a fifth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for a future pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Talib had been rumored to be on the trade block as the Rams prepare to offer recently-acquired cornerback Jalen Ramsey a huge long-term deal. Now that has come to fruition.

It makes sense for Los Angeles. But one has to wonder how this trade benefits Miami long term. Talib is on IR, is playing out the final year of his current deal, and the Dolphins are tanking this season. Do they really believe he’s worth keeping around past the 2019 season?

If not, then all this trade represents is Miami buying a fifth-round pick from the Rams.
