Report: Cowboys release first-round bust Taco Charlton

That escalated rather quickly. A report earlier on Wednesday indicated that the Dallas Cowboys could soon release 2017 first-round pick, defensive end Taco Charlton.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, that’s now come to fruition. Inactive for the Cowboys’ first two games, Charlton had in the past indicated he wants a new start somewhere else.

He’s now going to get that after recording a combined four sacks in his first two-plus NFL seasons.

It is somewhat of a surprise that the Cowboys didn’t receive trade interest in the 24-year-old pass rusher two years after they selected him No. 28 overall.

We’re sure Charlton will receive some interest on the open market.
