Cal QB Chase Garbers injured bouncing hard off the turf

Chase Garbers injured

The California Golden Bears are one of the biggest surprises in college football this year thanks in part to quarterback Chase Garbers.

Fresh off a four-touchdown performance against Ole Miss in Week 4, Garbers threw a touchdown in the first half Friday night against Arizona State. Then, in the second quarter, he took a hard fall and bounced off the turf after being tripped up on a scramble to the left side of the field.

Here’s another look at the hard fall, which shows how he landed on his throwing shoulder.

Garbers remained on the ground in obvious pain for a couple of minutes but was able to walk off the field under his own power. Though, he did not return to the game before halftime.

Given the way he bounced on his throwing shoulder, and given the way his head bounced on the turf afterward, there is obvious concern that he could be hurt badly.
