Angels star Mike Trout expects to return Friday

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout has missed each of the past three games after undergoing a cryoablation procedure to fix a neuroma in his right foot earlier in the week.

While Trout is not sure how his foot will hold up once he’s on the field, the likely AL MVP did note that he expects to return in time for Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Angels might not have anything to play for in what has been a lost season, but Trout and Co. could very well impact the American League Playoff Race.

Including this weekend’s three-game set against the Rays, all 16 remaining games on the Angels’ schedule come against playoff teams or playoff contenders.

Trout could play a vital role in that if he’s able to return. The game’s best player is hitting .291 while leading the American League in homers (45), walks (110), OBP (.438), slugging percentage (.645) and OPS (1.083) this season.
