Tom Brady won’t play in preseason game against Titans

The New England Patriots will not risk injury to franchise quarterback Tom Brady in their second preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.

For the second week in a row, Brady won’t play a single snap. Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, confirming an ESPN report, noted Brady “got a ton of reps during the joint practices for the second week and looked sharp.”

Given the freak injuries that have occurred during preseason action over the past few years, teams have begun to keep key starters out more and more. Brady, set to enter his 20th NFL season, clearly knows what it takes to get ready for the regular season, and he’s already in midseason form when it comes to the competitive juices flowing. So, the risk/reward for playing him just doesn’t add up.

With Brady out of the lineup, we expect rookie Jarrett Stidham to get plenty of run after Brian Hoyer plays.
