Steve Kerr on Demarcus Cousins’ injury: ‘I’m devastated’

The NBA world received some horrible news early on Thursday with reports that former All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins suffered yet another serious leg injury.

According to multiple reports that have since been confirmed by Cousins’ camp, the injury-plagued big man suffered a torn ACL during a workout in Las Vegas earlier this week.

While the new Lakers center only played one season with Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors, a solid relationship was built between the two.

In speaking about Cousins’ injury, an obviously dejected Kerr had this to say.

Kerr and the Warriors did everything to help Cousins rebuild his value in free agency this summer. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn quad during the playoffs.

That came less than 18 months after Cousins tore his Achilles as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.

There’s no telling if Cousins will ever be able to return from this latest setback in a Hall of Fame-worthy career that has been derailed by injury after injury over the course of the past two years.

It certainly did hit Cousins’ former head coach pretty hard.
