Report: Talks between Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott ‘intensifying’ with aim to have contract done this weekend

The Dallas Cowboys are finally getting some good news on the Ezekiel Elliott contract front, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the two sides are making progress.

Per Schefter, talks between Dallas and Elliott “are intensifying” with the aim of wrapping up a new deal this weekend.

There have been conflicting reports this past week about exactly what kind of offer is on the table for Elliott. What we do know for certain is that Elliott has received much more support from former Cowboys stars than the team has. We also know that, despite Tony Pollard having a strong preseason, Elliott is the engine that drives Dallas’ offense.

Owner Jerry Jones has had plenty of controversial things to say during Elliott’s protracted holdout. Yet he has also remained steadfast in his belief that a deal would ultimately get done. It sure seems like that is finally going to happen with Week 1 looming.
