Drew Lock went down hard and awkwardly on his right hand during Monday night’s preseason game between the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers.
The good news is, Lock didn’t break a bone. He did, however, suffer a “bad sprain,” in his right thumb, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, who notes “he’s obviously going to miss some time.” More good news, though, is that the injury will not require surgery.
Lock has been a bit spotty this preseason, which is to be expected. The second-round rookie out of Missouri had a bit of a rough outing Monday night before getting injured while attempting to evade pressure, going 7-of-12 for 40 yards.
With his preseason likely over, Lock finishes his first NFL summer having completed 31-of-51 passes (60.8%) for 254 yards with one touchdown and one interception in three games of play.
