Dodgers’ Julio Urias suspended 20 games for domestic violence

After being arrested for domestic battery in May, MLB suspended Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias 20 games for violating the league’s joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.

Urias accepted the league’s 20-game ban on Saturday and will immediately begin serving the suspension.

Los Angeles placed Urias on the administrative list for five games following his arrest in May. As a result, he’ll only have to serve 15 of the 20 games under his current suspension.

The Dodgers released a statement following the suspension to announce their support for MLB’s decision and crediting Urias for his actions since.

The 23-year-old has been used out of the bullpen and in the rotation this season by Los Angeles. He owns a 2.53 ERA, 1.09 WHIP with 67 strikeouts across 67.2 innings.
