Julio Jones: No chance I’ll hold out of training camp

Falcons coach avoids Julio Jones trade talk: 5 best teams for All-Pro receiver

Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons have been trying to hammer out a contract extension, but so far nothing has happened on that front. Many NFL stars, in similar situations, have held out of training camp. That’s not going to happen this summer with Jones, however.

TMZ Sports approached him and asked him about the contract negotiations. He shared his strong belief in Falcons owner Arthur Blank, noting his “word is that it’s going to get done. There’s no stress on my end. I’m not thinking about it.”

When specifically asked about a potential holdout this summer, Jones made it clear he will not do that.

Jones is arguably the best overall receiver in the NFL today. Certainly, he’s a top-five player at his position. Last year alone, he caught 113 passes for 1,677 yards and eight touchdowns.

Still with two years left on his current deal, Jones isn’t getting paid like the top receiver in the game right now. He’ll make $13.46 million in 2019 and $12.89 million in 2020 without an extension — nowhere near what Odell Beckham Jr. landed in his deal with Cleveland.
