On Monday, Enes Kanter opted not to re-sign with the Portland Trail Blazers and instead landed a two-year contract with the Boston Celtics.
When asked why he didn’t re-sign with Portland, Kanter reportedly told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated that the Blazers were pressuring him into making a decision in six minutes.
Well, former Blazers teammate Damian Lillard, who recently inked a massive extension with the club, had a different take when asked about this on social media.
Lillard is downright disputing the six-minute comment, without a shadow of doubt.
The Blazers ended up making quite a blockbuster move to fill the vacant spot left by Kanter, trading with the Miami Heat for Hassan Whiteside. That would seem to explain Lillard’s comment about “sometimes there’s a chance you lose out on two people because you’re waiting on one.”
No offense intended to Kanter, but when you have a shot to land a player of Whiteside’s caliber, you have to make the move.
