Nuggets sign star youngster Jamal Murray to max extension, per report

Trail Blazers vs. Nuggets Damian Lillard Jamal Murray

The Denver Nuggets got into the NBA spending spree early Monday morning.

Mere hours after free agency opened up, the up-and-coming team signed star young point guard Jamal Murray to a five-year, $170 million max extension.

Murray, 22, joins other guards such as Damian Lillard and D’Angelo Russell to receive max contracts at the start of free agency.

The No. 7 overall pick of Denver back in 2016, Murray has morphed into one of the best young guards in the game.

Last season saw him average 18.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 44 percent from the field.

The new extension will come into play following the 2019-20 season, locking Murray up for a total of six more seasons.
