NBA odds: Kemba Walker favored over Kyrie Irving to sign with Lakers

Will the Hornets trade Kemba Walker?

The Los Angeles Lakers rocked the NBA world by trading for All-Star center Anthony Davis, but the team still needs a point guard. Among the upcoming free agents that could fill that role, Kemba Walker is now the odds-on favorite to be signed, with Kyrie Irving being a close second.

The folks at BookMaker.eu released new NBA odds on this topic on Monday. Here’s a look at the players seen as most likely to sign with the Lakers in free agency, along with their odds:

  • Kemba Walker +225 (9/4)
  • Kyrie Irving +480 (24/5)
  • Patrick Beverly +1100 (11/1)
  • Rajon Rando +1500 (15/1)
  • D’Angelo Russell +800 (8/1)
  • Darren Collison +1650 (33/2)
  • Derrick Rose +2100 (21/1)
  • Ricky Rubio +950 (19/2)
  • Jimmy Butler +700 (7/1)
  • Malcolm Brogdon +1250 (25/2)

Walker, interestingly enough, has publicly stated that re-signing with the Charlotte Bobcats is his first priority in free agency and that he is potentially open to giving his team a hometown discount. Though, he has kept the door open to other opportunities.

Meanwhile, the rumors surrounding Kyrie Irving are much more pro-Lakers in nature. He is reportedly itching to play with Anthony Davis and has been “for months.” Additionally, it’s been reported that Irving is interested in potentially teaming up with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James.

With that in mind, it might be a safer bet to go with longer odds for Irving to sign with the Lakers over Walker.

Among the others listed as potential candidates, the most intriguing option outside of Irving and Walker is D’Angelo Russell. Though, it would be some kind of crazy circle to have him come back to Los Angeles after the Lakers so casually discarded him not so long ago.
