Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes favored to repeat as MVP

Sportsnaut First

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is coming off one of the best statistical seasons in NFL history.

He’s also just entering his third year in the NFL. The sky seems to be the limit for this generational talent. Westgate Las Vegas Superbook seems to agree.

They just came out with odds for the 2019 NFL MVP. Mahomes sits at the top with 10 other quarterbacks rounding out the top 11.

  • Patrick Mahomes: 4/1
  • Aaron Rodgers: 8/1
  • Andrew Luck: 8/1
  • Carson Wentz: 10/1
  • Drew Brees: 10/1
  • Tom Brady: 12/1
  • Philip Rivers: 14/1
  • Russell Wilson: 14/1
  • Ben Roethlisberger: 25/1
  • Matt Ryan: 25/1
  • Baker Mayfield: 25/1

Mahomes seems to be the safe bet. Here’s a dude that put up nearly 5,400 total yards with 52 touchdowns and 12 interceptions en route to leading Kansas City to north of 35 points per game as a sophomore last season.

But that’s the safe bet. A bit further down in the pecking order, Baker Mayfield at 25-to-1 could be a cash cow.

His Cleveland Browns have among the most-dynamic offensive weapons in the game. Mayfield is also coming off an historical rookie season.

If Mahomes were to go back-to-back, it would be the first time since Peyton Manning back in 2008 and 2009 that a player has won the award in consecutive seasons. Take that for what it’s worth.
