As MLB continues to look for ways to add excitement to All-Star Week, the league just received a big boost with Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. agreeing to participate in the 2019 Home Run Derby.

According to MLB Network’s Hazel Mae, Guerrero Jr. will participate in this year’s Home Run Derby at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

The 20-year-old rookie came to the majors with unprecedented fan and media attention. While Guerrero Jr. has struggled during stretches, his prodigious power has caught the eyes of scouts and fans for years and will be on display during the Home Run Derby.

He’ll likely be one of the favored candidates to win the contest and should be a source for a lot of excitement for baseball fans in Canada and across the globe.
