WATCH: Avisail Garcia hits inside-the-park home run after bad misplay

The Tampa Bay Rays hit their second inside-the-park home run in less than a week on Tuesday. This one was courtesy of the bat and feet of Avisail Garcia.

At first, it looked like a routine fly to Randal Grichuk. Fortunately for Garcia, the Toronto Blue Jays right fielder lost the ball in the Tropicana Field roof. The ball landed well behind Grichuk’s head and Garcia took full advantage of it.

As Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times noted, it was the first inside-the-park homer in Tampa since Opening Day in 2018. It was the first for a Rays player since 2014.

It’s a little surprising to see Grichuk, an American League East outfielder, lose a ball so badly. He’s got plenty of experience in that outfield.

Clearly, even for outfielders with many games there, the Tropicana Field roof is always a challenge.
