Just when we thought it was safe to celebrate the arrival of Vlad Guerrero Jr. to the big leagues, the Toronto Blue Jays pulled the rug out from under us.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reported Monday that the Blue Jays will not be promoting Guerrero to the majors on Tuesday, as many thought would happen.

The 20-year-old minor-league star has been crushing the ball the past couple of years and is hitting .344 with two home runs and seven RBI in just 34 at-bats this year so far.

A young man who has a lot to offer at the plate, Guerrero could only help a Blue Jays team that is floundering at 11-12 on the season.
