Mike McCarthy pushes back against scathing report

A report from Bleacher Report was released Thursday attempting to explain away Mike McCarthy’s tenure as the Green Bay Packers head coach and its bitter end.

Said article did not show the Super Bowl head coach in the best of lights.

“Mike has a low football IQ, and that used to always bother Aaron,” a source told Bleacher Report’s Tyler Dunne. “He’d say Mike has one of the lowest IQs, if not the lowest IQ, of any coach he’s ever had.”

While McCarthy didn’t necessarily respond directly to that critique, he did have a lot to say through NFL Media. Specifically, part of the report indicating that he missed a meeting to get a massage.

McCarthy continued by joking that he’s getting a massage tomorrow, but that’s not going to stop him from completing his tasks at hand.

Honestly, it is rather interesting that a report like this would be released months after the fact. It’s also alarming that McCarthy’s first step is to respond through NFL Media.

What we do know is that the marriage between McCarthy and his former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, didn’t go swell. It culminated in an ugly mid-season divorce.

The hope here is that both sides can move on from it. All of this dirty laundry being aired publicly isn’t a good look for either side.
