Report: NFL teams still think Cardinals taking Kyler Murray No. 1 overall

The Arizona Cardinals recently hosted top defensive lineman Nick Bosa for a two-day visit that included, of course, a nice dinner with team brass. Yet that visit isn’t doing anything to quell the notion that the Cardinals will still end up taking Kyler Murray at the top of the draft.

According to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, that meeting with Bosa “hasn’t changed many minds regarding the Cardinals’ plan at the top.”

In fact, not only do teams believe that Murray will be the pick at No. 1 overall, they believe Arizona will “likely on the day of the draft, also trade last year’s first-round pick, Josh Rosen.”

As noted by Freeman, nothing is set in stone right now — everything is a potential smokescreen. Yet when there is this much smoke, there’s usually a fire underneath it all.

The Cardinals have been connected to Murray since the day they hired Kliff Kingsbury to coach the team. He’s long been enamored with the dual-threat passer, having famously said last year before he was hired that he’d take Murray No. 1 overall if he ever got the chance.

Arizona has tried to say it’s 100 percent behind Rosen, yet nobody buys that notion. If the young passer is placed on the block, he’ll garner a ton of interest around the league.
