Kings looking to extend GM Vlade Divac, per report

Despite missing out on the playoffs for a 13th consecutive season, the Sacramento Kings took major steps in the right direction this year.

Led by youngsters De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley, Sacramento has an opportunity to win 40 games for the first time since 2005-06.

This could very well put general manager Vlade Divac in line for an extension, per Marc Stein of The NY Times.

Working without a first-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Divac did well to add to Sacramento’s core during February’s trade deadline — acquiring an important piece in that of forward Harrison Barnes.

The Kings did take a ton of flack for selecting Marvin Bagley over Luka Doncic last June, but that has seemed to work out pretty well in California’s capital city.

As Sacramento looks to extend Divac, the future of head coach Dave Joerger is in question. He has just one year left on his deal, per Stein, and will be looking for an extension.

Stability is what this Kings team needs. Extending both Divac and Joerger would definitely be a step in the right direction.
