Cowboys’ Amari Cooper confident extension will get done

Dallas Cowboys star receiver Amari Cooper is entering the final year of his rookie deal after the team acquired him from the Oakland Raiders last season.

It’s rather obvious that Cooper and the Cowboys want to come to terms on a long-term deal prior to Week 1.

In talking about that possibility recently, the Pro Bowl pass catcher didn’t seem to be too worried. In fact, Cooper is confident that something will get done here soon.

“My agent has probably talked to me three or four times about where we are in the process,” Cooper said, via SportsDay. “I really don’t think about it much. I feel like we have time. I feel like they’re active about it and they want to get it done.”

It might not sound like a big deal, but Cooper’s stance will surely help Dallas moving forward. While the team did extend DeMarcus Lawrence earlier in the offseason, it still has to worry about quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott.

If the Cowboys can somehow get something worked out with Cooper here soon, they can set their sights on those other two.

Cooper, 24, recorded 53 receptions for 725 yards and six touchdowns in nine games with the Cowboys after being acquired from Oakland. His new deal might very well reset the wide receiver market as we know it.
