2019 NFL Draft: Cardinals take Kyler Murray No. 1 overall

After months of speculation. After months of rumors. It’s now become fact. The Arizona Cardinals have made reigning Heisman winner, quarterback Kyler Murray, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Reports leading up to Arizona being on the clock Thursday night suggested that they had not made their decision prior to the start of the draft. Apparently that was news to Mr. Murray. It was also fake news.

Murray will now be tasked with leading this fledgling franchise into the future one year after Arizona made fellow quarterback Josh Rosen a top-10 pick.

It really is a strange end result. One year ago today, Murray was seemingly committed to playing professional baseball. At about that same time, the Cardinals were ready to make Rosen the face of their franchise.

This selection will obviously have a trickle-down effect as the remainder of Round 1 plays out. For now, the long anticipated selection of Kyler Murray to the Arizona Cardinals has become a reality.
