Report: Dolphins release veteran WR Danny Amendola

In a move that really shouldn’t surprise anyone, the Miami Dolphins have released veteran wide receiver Danny Amendola one year after signing him away from the division-rival New England Patriots.

Given the Dolphins’ lackluster cap situation, this move had been expected for some time.

Amendola, 33, signed a two-year, $12 million deal with Miami last offseason. Though, the deal was pretty much one year at $6 million. Miami saves a cool $6 million without a dead cap hit by releasing the veteran.

In his only season in South Beach, Amendola was pretty solid. He recorded 59 receptions for 575 yards while boasting a 74.7 catch rate.

Look for the Patriots to kick the tires on bringing him back this offseason.
