Report: Browns will likely trade, release, or restructure Jamie Collins’ contract

It’s very possible that linebacker Jamie Collins has played his final game with the Cleveland Browns. At the very least, he’s played his last game under his current contract.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported on Monday that general manager John Dorsey and Cook’s agent met over the weekend. She later updated the story if Collins and the Browns can’t agree to restructure his deal, he’ll likely be traded or released soon.

Dorsey added that “there were some inconsistencies” with the play of Collins in 2018.

Coming off of a season-ending injury in 2017, Collins finished 2018 with 73 tackles and was in on 104. He recorded four sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble.

The Browns have a lot of potential, but are far from a finished product. It makes sense that Cleveland would look to free up some money for free agency. Collins represents a pretty decent opportunity to do that.
