Odell Beckham Jr. trade celebration led to 911 call

Who can blame Cleveland Browns fans for being excited after their team landed star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in a trade Tuesday evening?

These fans have been through so much bad football in their quarter century since the franchise returend to the NFL.

One particular Browns fan in Ohio, 17-year-old Robert Stewart, was so excited that it led to a neighbor calling 911.

“We had just gotten home from getting groceries around 8:30 p.m. Then I heard screaming. At first I thought it was a woman because the screaming was so high-pitched,” said Corita Jackson, via Fox 8 in Cleveland. “Then I saw this man running down the street just flailing his arms and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’”

Jackson put her children back in the car and immediately called the authorities. The man in question responded in kind.

“Boom. We got OBJ. I was so excited. I couldn’t help myself. I was jumping all around my house because I couldn’t help myself; I was so excited,” Stewart said. “My brother told me to stop but I couldn’t because I was so excited. Couldn’t nothing stop me. So, I had to rejoice outside.”

The good news? Stewart didn’t find itself in any trouble. Instead, the responding officers celebrated with him.

For an organization that has sniffed postseason football just once over the past 24 years, Tuesday night had to feel like a championship came to the city. Fans rejoiced. Police officers joined in.

Unfortunately for fans of the New York Giants, said trade did not bring happy times.
