Roy Williams on Zion Williamson: ‘I’ve never seen anything like it’

Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels will get their first crack at Duke fab freshman Zion Williamson this coming Wednesday. It’s the first of two games between the ACC rivals over the next three weeks.

In talking about what Williamson brings to the table, Williams did not hold back. In fact, the Hall of Fame head coach noted that he’s never seen anything like Williamson at the amateur level since he entered the college ranks back in 1978.

The major caveat here being that neither LeBron James nor Kobe Bryant ended up playing college ball.

Even then, Williams is throwing a ton of praise in Williamson’s direction. And for good reason. Here’s a dude that continues to make the highlight-reel play on a consistent basis (watch here and here).

He’s also averaging 22.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.9 blocks while shooting an otherworldly 68 percent from the field. Did we mention that Williamson is still a teenager and heads the No. 1 team in the nation?
