Do Manny Machado’s gloves mean he’ll sign with White Sox?

The slow MLB offseason has turned free agent Manny Machado into the world’s least subtle hint dropper, its best troll, or some combination of both.

Rawlings posted a picture of the gloves Machado will wear this season. And if the colors of the gloves are any indicator, he still has the Chicago White Sox on the brain.

Interesting. Very interesting.

Of course, we have to note that on its own, this could mean nothing. The color(s) of a player’s glove may or may not have anything to do with the team he plays for. Not many Los Angeles Dodgers wear bright blue gloves, after all. This may not be anything more than Machado liking the color scheme. On the other hand, it’s hard to ignore.

The same can be said for a video that Machado had posted (and deleted) of White Sox baby shoes. The shoes had the No. 17 on them, which is the number that Yonder Alonso, Machado’s brother-in-law, wears for Chicago. That may not have been anything more than him being a good family man. But given that the White Sox have been named as a leading candidate for his services, we have to at least pay some attention to it.

In the end, what this means is anyone’s guess. But Machado seems to have found a good way to have fun with the dreadfully slow offseason.
