The situation between disgruntled All-Star Anthony Davis and his New Orleans Pelicans is not getting any better.

Still on the team after he requested a trade leading up to last week’s deadline, Davis is now suiting up for the Pelicans. This comes after reports surfaced that the Pelicans might simply sit him for the remainder of the season.

Instead, the NBA threatened to fine the Pelicans $100,000 for every time Davis is a healthy scratch from here on out. The end result? A lackluster overall performance from Davis and a team he doesn’t want to play for.

That was magnified during a 30-point blowout home loss to the Orlando Magic on Tuesday. Following the game, Davis did not hold back on his criticism of the team.

“We sucked. Seemed like nobody was interested in playing,” Davis said, via Andrew Lopez of NOLA.com. “When you play like that against a team who’s fighting, you should expect that result.”

That’s all sorts of great. But maybe Davis should look in the mirror. He scored exactly three points on 1-of-9 shooting in 24 minutes. New Orleans was minus-16 with him on the court.

Common logic seems to suggest that the best player in a specific game should have performed better. Maybe Davis should take some responsibility for not being interested in playing.

As it relates to Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry, he’s pretty much done talking about the entire situation.

Good luck with that, Alvin.

Yeah, it’s going to be an ugly final couple months of the season in New Orleans. That’s for sure.
