2019 NFL Draft compensatory picks released

The NFL on Friday released its compensatory selections for the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft in April. This formula takes into account net free agent losses and acquisions from the previous offseason.

It’s a way for NFL teams to build up their rosters while avoiding spending top dollar to retain their free agents. In the past, the defending champion New England Patriots have cornered the market here.

That will not change once the 2019 NFL Draft comes calling. New England picks up two third-round compensatory selections as well as a sixth round and seventh-round pick. Those selections come after New England lost Nate Solder, Dion Lewis and Malcolm Butler in free agency last March.

The team New England defeated in this year’s Super Bowl — the Los Angeles Rams — also have two additional third-round picks to work with.

Here’s the full list.
