Kentucky’s Josh Allen has bold statement about 2019 NFL Draft

Coming off a thrilling win in the Citrus Bowl to conclude his collegiate career, Kentucky Wildcats edge rusher Josh Allen now has a new goal on his mind. In fact, he doesn’t see anyone standing in his way to keep him from reaching it.

Following the Citrus Bowl win over Penn State, Allen made it clear to reporters who should be the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and what he thinks about his draft peers.

“You all record this,” Allen said, via WDRB. “If I don’t go No. 1, I don’t know who is.”

The 21-year-old pass rusher certainly has the talent. Statistics and hardware to back up his statement. Allen recorded 18.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, five forced fumbles and four pass deflections in a dominant senior season.

After a breakout year, voters rewarded Allen with several honors and awards. He was named this year’s recipient of the Chuck Bednarik Award, the Lott Trophy and the Bronko Nagurski Award.

Of course, he will face some serious completion for the honor of being the top draft pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa, who withdrew from the university in October, is considered to be the favorite as of now to be the No. 1 pick.

If both players compete in the NFL Scouting Combine, it will be fascinating to see how they stack up athletically and which player gets the edge on draft boards.
