Former NFL QB Tony Romo: ‘I’m sure one day I’ll coach‘

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is slated to broadcast Super Bowl LIII between the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.

Only two seasons removed from suiting up for the Cowboys, it’s been a meteoric rise for the former Pro Bowler in the booth. In fact, some conclude that Romo is already the best broadcaster in the game.

One of the former quarterback’s strengths is his ability to call offensive plays before they happen. He has a keen sense of what is coming — something other broadcasters simply don’t possess. It’s led to speculation that Romo’s abilities would be better off as a coach on the sidelines.

In talking about that possibility, Romo very much kept the door open to a coaching career.

“Well, they’ll have to wait,” Romo said, when asked about fans clamoring for him to coach, via the Dallas Morning News. “I’m sure one day I’ll coach.”

It seems to be the next logical step in the evolution of Romo’s “retirement” life. He understands full well the eccentricities of NFL offenses.

The only question here is where Romo’s coaching career might start — the college or NFL ranks. Logically, it should be as a defensive coordinator in the pros.

What we do know is that Romo is very much open to the idea of coaching. That will lead to a ton of interest in his services in the coming years.
