New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis is expected to miss between one and two weeks with a left finger sprain, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Saturday morning.
The big picture: As great a player as Davis is, this won’t really have a huge impact on much long term.
- New Orleans brings a sub-.500 record to the table, has won just five of its last 10 games and lost two in a row.
- The bottom half of the Western Conference is full of teams in similar shape and the playoffs are still shockingly in reach.
Time to step up: In Davis’ absence, other players are going to need to contribute more meaningful minutes.
- Former No. 3 overall pick Jalil Okafor must pick up the slack. He’s averaging 4.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game but hasn’t been logging a ton of minutes.
- Julius Randle and Nikola Mirotic will have to stay out of foul trouble and play more minutes in the next couple of weeks.
