Robert Kraft ‘flattered’ by interest in Josh McDaniels

Josh McDaniels rule

Two head coaches have already been fired around the NFL this season. We’re expecting at least another half dozen to join them on the unemployment line once Black Monday comes calling in about a month.

With a quarter of the league potentially looking for new coaches, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is going to be a hot commodity.

He’s seen as one of the best offensive minds in the game, and has been viewed like this for the better part of the past decade. In talking about the possibility of losing McDaniels to a head coaching job, Patriots owner Robert Kraft had this to say.

“I care about winning Sunday. That’s what really what I care about,” Kraft said, via the Boston Herald. “Whatever happens, you know, we have good people. I’m actually flattered that people are after our people.”

McDaniels actually agreed to take the Indianapolis Colts’ job last offseason before backing out at the last minute. It sure wasn’t a good look for the longtime Patriots assistant and former Denver Broncos head coach.

There’s rumblings that McDaniels’ decision to stay in New England was made under the guise that he’d ultimately replace Bill Belichick as head coach. We’ll find out this winter whether that is actually the case.
