Richard Sherman already recruiting Earl Thomas to the 49ers

Richard Sherman

When Richard Sherman joined the San Francisco 49ers in free agency this past offseason, allegiances were thrown for a loop.

How would diehard 49ers fans react to the enemy playing in the red and gold? Would Seahawks fans support him on a division rival? It was such a shocking move that Sherman himself had to unblock many 49ers fans on Twitter.

Could San Francisco could potentially add another former Legion of Boom member this coming offseason? Set to become a free agent, future Hall of Fame safety Earl Thomas has made it known he’s not happy about the way Seattle has treated him. Much like Sherman, he might look to sign with the 49ers as a way to stick it to his former team.

Sherman himself is seemingly all for this idea. When asked about Thomas’ impending free agency, Sherman didn’t hold back.

“Would I love to play with Earl Thomas III? Sure, I would love to have him back in the locker room but I’m sure he’ll have a plethora of opportunities but I’m sure we’re gonna throw our hat in the ring,” Sherman told reporters Thursday, via ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.

This would excite a ton of 49ers fans. Unlike Sherman, Thomas was not seen as public enemy No. 1 in Northern California.

Closing up what has been a disastrous season in San Francisco, Thomas would be a major upgrade on the field. It also doesn’t hurt that signing him would take two of the best-known members of the Legion of Boom from the faithful in Seattle.

As they say, “Get er done.”
