Stanford Cardinal running back Bryce Love announced Monday evening that he will skip his team’s bowl game to prepare for the 2019 NFL Draft.
“I will not be playing in our upcoming bowl game and will instead focus on being completely healthy and prepared for the 2019 NFL Draft,” Love wrote. “God has blessed me with an incredible opportunity to play the sport I love at the highest level — it is a surreal feeling to be on the cusp of seeing my dream true. I am completely devoted to this next chapter of my career, and I will always keep the Stanford community, my family and my faith by my side throughout.”

Stanford will therefore play against Pitt in the Sun Bowl without the star running back.
Love was a Heisman finalist last season but struggled to stay healthy in 2018.
During this last season at Stanford, Love rushed for just 739 yards and six touchdowns. However, he wowed the nation replacing Christian McCaffrey in 2017, going for 2,118 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground.
The senior out of Wake Forest, North Carolina should have no trouble landing on an NFL roster, though it’s unlikely he’ll be drafted very high due to injury concerns and potentially a lack of diversity in his game.
